I realize its been such a long time since I last made a post, but I have many reasons for this occurrence. First off my computer decided to crash on me. It was the weirdest thing because I was using in class and closed the lid like I usually do, and I made my way to the library to study. I seated myself at one of the cubicles and attempted to turn it off, low and behold the screen remained black. I so was not expecting this, so I ended up not having a computer for about a period of two weeks. I managed to get my parents to ship me a new one which was a life safer, but I also learned I study better without.
I also managed to make a trip to Barbados for a weekend since we did not have any classes on a Monday after one of out weekends. I wanted to experience the famed rally weekend. It was interesting and I enjoyed myself to the as full an extent as I possibly could. I actually took some books with me to do some study over there but it never happened. I saw some family and friends which is always a good thing. What I find totally surprising is I really did not feel like I went on a trip at all. The flight was about thirty to forty minutes, and it felt like a took a little drive to another part of the country.
I took my first anatomy practical and mini examination. I managed to do well in anatomy and DPS, but did not do too well in Biochemistry and Histology. The motivation to do better is definitely more driven after doing this exam because I know I can do better.
One other thing I want to mention is I have been using the fruits of the land rather than using money to buy from the locals. There is such an abundance of mangoes and guavas bananas and oranges all over in the bushes. You basically just have to look for them. It brings back memories of me in Barbados when I was a little kid running round in the bushes with my brother picking all the different fruits without a care in the world, the good times how I miss them.
So, the combination of the broken lap top and studying for the mini kind of prevented me from updating the blog. I will attempt to make an effort to keep up to date. Anyways back to the studying.

Lots of island tours
Well the last couple days have been very interesting. Friday morning I went to the capital, Roseau, and managed to get a couple things I needed for the apartment. The bus ride was a pretty long one and the town was some what small compared to what I am used to. What is really funny is on my way back to the school the bus passed by a main river and we saw a nude man bathing in the river. Everyone on the bus looked at the guy in awe, totally unexpected. After the Roseau trip me and a buddy of mine, Adam, went kayaking. We paddled maybe a mile and a half to a secret beach only accessible by the sea. It was quite a site. The water was pretty clear and the reef could clearly be seen below. This past Saturday I took a trip to a waterfall which was very nice. There were two obstacle courses which entailed crossing two small river streams. I had to take my shoes off to walk though them. I did contemplate traversing my way across the rocks situated amongst the water, but I did not want to slip and injure myself before I even started school. In the evening I attended a scheduled bonfire on the beach, and when I say bonfire I mean what I say. The stack of wood must have been at least ten feet high. The last couple days have definitely kept me busy and I am so thankful because I would not have much to do with my free time. I also have many pictures and videos too post. I will do this when I figure out how to.

First Day on the Island
Well it has been a long day. I left Miami at 6:00 a.m and arrived in Puerto Rico for my connecting flight, then left San Juan and arrived in Dominica around 2:00 p.m. I must say when the pilot was in the process of landing it was quite an experience. The turbulence was crazy disturbing, and everyone on the plane looked pretty nervous while the pilot made a U turn over the island in an attempt to line the plane up with the runway. It looked like the tree line was maybe 20 feet away at the most from the tip of the wing, well that is how close it looked anyway. The trip from the airport to the school was not as bad as I thought it would be; even thought it was like a fifty minute journey. I got all settled into my new apartment and something unexpected has happened already. I brought down a surge protector and attempted to plug it in, and all of a sudden it made this loud crackling noise and a funny burning smell filled the entire room.I still cannot figure out what the heck happened.I'll talk to the land lord tomorrow and find out what happened. Funny thing is I am writing this entry off the battery power on my laptop because I don't want to risk plugging it in the outlet.

I am new to this whole world of blogging , so you will definitely have to bare with me for a couple of weeks until I become more acquainted with the concept. Well I leave for Dominica in a day or so. I have most of everything packed so far, and i just have to call Tropical shipping today. I need to make sure they ship my barrel out this week. I managed to say goodbye to a couple of my friends, but I still need to call a couple people and say my farewells. Funny thing is still waiting for the excitement to hit me. Huh, maybe it will happen when i see the island.
